WHAT TO EXPECT
Language: The official language of Ghana is English.
Visa: As of 2023 December, Ghana is visa-free for Kenyan passport holders. Before you travel, it is advisable to contact the embassy to ensure that the requirements haven’t changed.
Weather: December in Ghana can be extremely warm. Bring lightweight clothing and consider having a fan with you. Seriously, the temperatures can get quite high.
Currency: The Ghanaian Cedi.
Credit Cards and ATMs: In Ghana, credit card payments are widely accepted, particularly in urban areas and larger establishments like hotels, restaurants, and major retail stores. However, it’s important to acknowledge that cash remains a predominant form of payment. If you plan to use ride-sharing services like Uber, some drivers may decline card payments. Additionally, when traveling to remote areas, cash is often the preferred and, at times, the sole accepted payment method. It is recommended to confirm the accepted payment methods with specific businesses in advance. Furthermore, notifying your bank about your travel plans is advisable to prevent potential issues with card transactions in a foreign country.
Plugs: The plugs in Namibia are type D (This has three round prongs in a triangular pattern) and G ( three rectangular prongs in a triangular pattern).
Activities: 2-day Afro Future festival experience, Accra city tour, Cape Coast day tour to visit the slave castles, Kakum canopy walk, Aburi botanical gardens, and Asenema waterfalls
